I was close getting on the Finnish European Cup team but unluckily I was not chosen. It was a pity as was starting to feel really good last week. Damien Camberlein who was competing also in Bourgoin-Jallieu on May is on the French team, which is great. Now I am targeting fully on Kalevan Kisat. [...]

It is mid summer and all Finns are in summer cottages taking advantage of the beautiful weather. It was about time to change this sauna stove to a new one. You could already see the flames below the stones.

My results for today were 16,49 (+0,0), 37,93, 450, 47,80, 4.58,91 6652 points. Olli did 5270 points and won the 1500 m (4.55). Annika’s first heptathlon gave 3671 points (505 (+1,3), 27,00, 3.00,05). Me and Olli targeted 4.52,5 on 1500 m but did not quite follow the clock; so we run 1200 m for 4.03 [...]

Me 11,70 (+0,7), 677 (+1,5), 12,75, 188, 53,78 total 3468. Olli 12,00, 572 (+1,1), 9,35, 158, 54,26 total 2703. Annika 16,20, 138, 10,87, 28.84 total 2313. For me 100 m was not a very good run as I could not keep up the rhythm. Long jump and shot put were ok. High jump went well [...]

My results 11,70 (+0,7), 677 and 12,75 so pretty good start. Olli did 12,00, 572, 9,31 and at least 158. We are only two plus two younger ones (Jens in the picture). Weather is perfect for a relaxed decathlon. Annika has done so far ~16,20, 136 and 10,82 so fairly well.

I went to see FJG relays in Leppävaara today. I got a new phone with a good camera (N80) so I had to test it as well. FJG is not as an huge happening as it used to be when I was young. It still must be the biggest youth competition at least in Finland [...]

Loviisa will be the hosting town for the championships. I heard that there are not too many participants; Finlandia Junior Games must be eating up some of the potential ones on the youth classes. Techies are talking a lot about web 2.0 so why not use those fancy services in coaching as well. Google spreadsheets has been launched in a public beta just now. The basic idea is to have your excel sheet in a browser and edit it online either just by your self or with your friends. [...]

Other results elsewhere but here are my final two events: 51,80 and 4.34,60 both are personal best results. Total 6997 points. I looked at the scoring tables before the final event and tried to do 7000 but unluckily just was left 3 points short. However, a good decathlon. 92 points more than last year in [...]
