Estonia-Finland-Sweden combined events international will be held next weekend in Rakvere Estonia. I am part of the Finnish team. There are five decathletes/heptathletes per country and if I remember correctly four best results per country will be counted together to make up the final result. I collected last year’s (and this year’s where available) best [...]

Looks like Autumn has arrived in Finland a bit too early. Temperature stays at around 10 degrees and it is raining daily (is this how it feels to be an Englishman ;-). So training outdoors is not always the best choice or at least the timing has to be perfect to avoid the showers. A [...]

may be found from the official site. Trip was good. Some photos available in my flickr album. In addition to the not so great results we got to experience a far better opening ceremony (in the picture) than in the WC Helsinki 2005, the first ever victory on Eurovision song contest for Finland by the [...]

The second day of SELL games did not go too well for us (Finnish athletes). I did 24,43 (-1,3) on 200 m. Antti stepped three times over the fault line on long jump and I walked back two unsatisfactory jumps before withdrawing from the competition. Next we are going to have a good dinner in [...]

First day of SELL games in Tartu is over. I ran 100 m 11,90 (-0,4) winning other decathlonist Antti Miihkinen by 0,01 s. Antti had a 2 meters lead at 60 m but I was able to push over him in the final meters. After the 100 m I went jogging when I realised that [...]

I added couple of photos from France to my flickr photo album. The complete list of Bourgoin-Jallieu results may be found here. I will not stay long in Finland as I will leave today to Estonia for the SELL games in Tartu. I should compete tomorrow on 100 m and 110 m hurdles and [...]

High jump went fairly well in the end; I passed 186 on first attempt and 189 on third (second one I dropped with my hand). I did not try at 192 at all to save my heel although I did not feel it while jumping. 400 m was 52,97. I started slowly and pushed more [...]

Bourgoin-Jallieu showed its best sides in the morning. Unluckily the competition did not start until 14.00. I was told by the other competitors that seniors should start at around 14.20 so as after all we were the first to run I took my first run with spikes 4 minutes before the start. My time was [...]

Weather was great up till now but 10 minutes ago it started to rain a bit. Storm is gathering and weather forecasts state that it is going to be at least partly rainy for the whole weekend. However, temperature should be on a decent level, that is 20 degrees. Muscles feel ok and the left [...]
